Do you trust a JW when it comes to $$$$?
by William Penwell inwell i thought there was one thing i could count on with my ex jw wife and that was she would not go back on her word.
to make a long story short, after we were separated and i signed off on the marriage, my ex gave me her word that she would not go after my pension.
well a few years later guess what?

Does This Bother Any JW Apologists?
by Ding indoes it bother any jw apologists or lurking jws that charles russell, joseph rutherford, and the watchtower board members who backed them would all be disfellowshipped today for teaching what those men taught as truth?.
does it bother any of you that you would be disfellowshipped today for believing what their followers would have been disfellowshipped for not believing?.

i wonder if they stopped using the phrase "advancing light" yet. that phrase does not apply to information that nullifies a previously held belief. they should come up with a new explanation like " light is a spectrum of color some more pronounced than others therefore it is logical to conclude some of our teachings might make some sense and most of them are just beyond your public school education so believe them cause we say so!"

they have started to shun my child. its working perfectly!
by Evidently Apostate insometimes control tactics backfire especially when directed to a mothers child.
she is pissed bigtime at some in the hall who keep thier kids away from our son.
she has seen the mental abuse before but this affects her and the maternal instinct kicks in.

flying high now, i have been working that angle, telling her i want our kids to have friends from both sides and to lose his jw friends would be a shame. i talked to one of them and got the impression his mom is enforcing this. i hope this kid realizes how pius his mother is acting. waiting on the jw inlaws forthcoming biased opinions on his hair. my FIL once said i looked like a bum because of a beard, he's a winner.

sometimes control tactics backfire especially when directed to a mothers child. she is pissed bigtime at some in the hall who keep thier kids away from our son. she has seen the mental abuse before but this affects her and the maternal instinct kicks in. my sons crime, he has let his hair grow long which was enough to create a problem with some of his friends jw parents who now prohibit thier association with our child. this has promted daily discussions and when she asks why this is happening. i am careful not to assign blame on the parents who we are friends with but have been telling her "its not thier fault the belief system of this religion encourages separation from the non conformist. and i think this is very unsettling for her. we also let our children have non jw friends as we have never believed children are bad. thankfully he still has loyal friends(non jw)

very good self control. your son will love you no matter what you say, he probably forgot it 5 min after the conversation. your wife may be this way or even more brazen for awhile. you make your argument every time you smile and tell her you love her. hopefully she will see herself from your eyes.
continue the fight

Any of you have one of these?
by bottleofwater indo or did any of you ever have those super emotional brothers and sisters (typically older) who think that every little thing will cause armageddon?.
example - when the pilot landed the plane on the hudson river... oh my god!
it's a sign of armageddon!

dan,
i too am desperate to help my wife see the falsehood in this cult. i have never thought of the religion i nievely accepted as truth 20 years ago was in fact a cult, now we all know what the truth is, but she dosent. my beautiful wife will look at me with this look of fear and disbelief sometimes when we have a deep discussion that shines the org in a negative light. i find i can only take the conversation so far and then she changes sometimes its only a look in her eyes but i know reasoning is done and to continue is futile. your wife has a defence mechanism that becomes aggresive the longer you debate WT logic. STAY OFF THE SUBJECT walk away man, it is not worth it . winning an argument should not be the goal, getting your family out is, keep that in mind always.i have felt like you at times that i may end up giving up and walking away, i sometimes start to realize she is never going to truly listen to me. i cannot make demands of her at those times, she has to see the org for its deceptive tactics. you can start your fade, i have and it is very slow and subtle. i have told my wife i will attend a couple sunday meetings a month to pacify those inthe hall and keep the kids from thinking too much. thats it i do not bring up WT doctrine to her or attemp to scale the ignorance wall if she comes at me a question. before you answer think to yourself is this an attack or is she genuine? she has been well trained to use leading questions. go have a beer instead of continuing a discussion that has no purpose. we have been taught that people at the door may have something change i thier life that may make them more receptive to the witnesses and to have patience, use that logic for now
i thank this board for the people on it , not the ones that just witness bash but those like you, we just want our lives and our families
peace

ITS JUST A POPSICLE!
by Evidently Apostate ini remember something that happened to me a few years ago that reminded me of the programmed witnessing of a jw.
i was out with a friend (a jw) going for a drive and he brings us to a home to meet a guy that was an amway salesman and my friend had been encouraging me to get involved with amway.
" there was no way i was going to sell toothpaste" i told him.
